On May 21, the Global Education Center at Chonnam National University (Director: Won-Il Cho) hosted a special lecture titled “University Life Shared by Seniors”at the Yeosu Campus to support students in designing their own self-directed university life.
The lecture was prepared not only for first-year students who are just beginning their college journey but also for upper-year students seeking practical guidance on career paths and extracurricular opportunities. On this day, senior student Yuri Heo, a fourth-year in the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, Department of Aquatic Life Medicine, led the session as the guest speaker.
Drawing from her own experiences, she shared valuable insights on coursework, extracurricular activities, scholarship opportunities, year-by-year roadmaps, and career advice. In particular, she explained how she managed her academic activities during semesters and breaks, and also provided practical tips gained through participating in extracurricular activities such as campus programs, external activities, and contests. Additionally, she offered guidance on scholarship programs and preparation methods.
She further presented a year-specific roadmap for university life, outlining key focus areas and recommended activities for each stage, helping younger students plan their academic journey more strategically.
A first-year student who attended commented, “University life felt vague and overwhelming before, but through this lecture, I was able to find direction and make concrete plans for my future.”
