The Global Education Center at Chonnam National University (Director: Won-Il Cho) successfully held the “Korean Traditional Craft Experience”program on January 22 at the Global Lounge in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building, Yeosu Campus.
This program was designed to promote cultural exchange between domestic and international students by offering hands-on experiences with traditional Korean crafts. About 20 students participated in the event, creating mother-of-pearl patterned spoons, chopsticks, and keyrings while learning about the beauty of traditional craftsmanship.
One international student shared, “Making Korean traditional crafts myself helped me gain a deeper understanding of the culture. I especially enjoyed working together with Korean friends, as it gave us a natural opportunity to talk and connect.”Another participant commented, “I never realized that mother-of-pearl craftwork required such precision and delicacy. Through making even a small piece, I was able to discover the elegance of Korean tradition in a new way.”
Director Won-Il Cho stated, “We will continue to design various cultural experience programs that bring domestic and international students together, offering opportunities for mutual understanding and communication. At the same time, we will support international students in adapting well to life in Korea while fostering greater interest in Korean culture.”
The Global Education Center continues to operate a variety of cultural exchange programs for international and exchange students and plans to further expand its activities, including traditional culture experiences.
